Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th in 1967. Roberts is from the fourth generation of Roberts family to have been a resident of Atlanta. The story began with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was farmer. She inherited her father's interest in theater from a young age. As a student in Emory University he appeared in diverse productions, both at and off the campus. When he joined the Air Force In 1953, he starred in an airforce production in Biloxi together with Betty Lou Bredemus. Both married in 2005 and they had their first baby, Eric Anthony in 1956. Walter attended Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after leaving the Airforce in the year 1957. Walter started working at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local children's Saturday morning television program Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. They also created an organization that lasted for six years called the Actors and Writers Workshop later the same year. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) as well as Julia (also known as Julie) during this period.
